Health funds we accept
Penrith Dental Care accepts all Australian private health funds with dental extras cover. That includes Bupa, HCF, Medibank, nib, HBF, ahm, Australian Unity, GMHBA, Teachers Health, Defence Health and others. If your policy includes dental extras, you can use it here.
Claim on the spot with HICAPS
We have HICAPS at the front desk. Bring your health fund card or digital card, we swipe it at the end of your visit, your fund pays its share straight away and you pay only the difference. There are no claim forms to send in.
Will I have a gap to pay?
It depends on your fund, your level of cover, your annual limits and how much of them you have already used. Preventive items such as a check-up, X-rays and a scale and clean usually attract the highest rebates. Major items such as crowns, implants and dentures often have waiting periods and yearly limits.
Before treatment we give you a written quote with the dental item numbers. You can give those numbers to your fund, by phone or in its app, to find out exactly what you will get back.
Getting the most from your extras
- Most funds reset annual limits on 1 January, and some on 1 July. Unused benefits generally do not roll over.
- Many policies cover one or two check-ups and cleans a year. See our dental check-ups and scale and clean pages.
- If you need larger treatment, it can sometimes be staged across two benefit years. Ask us when we prepare your treatment plan.
- Check waiting periods before booking major dental work if your policy is new.
No health insurance?
You do not need a health fund to be seen. New patients can book our Complete New Patient Check-Up for $139, which includes a comprehensive examination, two bitewing X-rays, photos, a full mouth scale and clean and a fluoride application. The offer is for new patients only, additional treatment is quoted separately, and it can be withdrawn at any time.
We also accept DVA card holders, NSW public dental (hospital) vouchers and the Child Dental Benefits Schedule for eligible children. See bulk billing dentist Penrith for how that works.
Health fund questions
Do you accept Bupa and HCF?
Yes. We accept Bupa, HCF and all other health funds with dental extras, and claim through HICAPS on the day.
Can I claim for my whole family in one visit?
Yes. Each family member on the policy can claim on the same card. Tell us when you book and we will try to arrange appointments back to back.
What if my fund is not listed here?
If it is an Australian health fund with dental extras, we can almost certainly process it. Call us with your fund name and we will confirm.
Can I get a quote before I commit?
Yes. Fees are confirmed before treatment begins, with item numbers so you can check your rebate.
